A. I'm not interested in buying these items, rather I had an idea for you. You could take pictures of these items and put it on Craigs List in your area. You can also do a search and see how much other people are selling those same items for. I've had a lot of success getting rid of things I don't want on CL. Best part is that they will come to you and pick up the items. www.craigslist.com

What are the restrictions on selling football tickets on eBay?
Q. I have become interested in purchasing season football tickets (NCAA) and then reselling the ones I don't care to attend. I know there are laws against scalping, yet it seems that people are selling for whatever price they want on eBay. I'm not so much wondering if this is a good business, but what laws must I follow in selling these tickets? For example, if I buy 2 USC gamecocks season tickets for $1000, can I then choose any price to sell the tickets I don't want or do I have to sell them for what the University sells them for? Thanks for your help, ya'll.

A. You cant sell tickets to a venue in the state you are located in for anything over the cost. So if you live in NY you can sell NJ Devils tickets for any amount, but you cannot sell Ranger tickets for anything over the cost. Hopefully that makes sense.

Why is selling a car on eBay getting harder to get good money?
Q. I have sold over 400 cars on eBay. It just doesn't seem to be like it used to be. Cars aren't selling for as much money. People used to fly in and buy cars from all over. Now I only get local people. I am selling them for more and faster in the local newspaper. Also, 1/2 the people that are top bidder don't even pay. It's just not barely worth it anymore. Does anyone else feel this way? If so, why? Haha, well now that you say it...I had a conversation with my dad today about him getting a car on eBay. I wasn't even thinking from the buyer's side...but I told him no way because I have bought 2 Corvettes and a 350Z from reputable dealers on eBay. All 3 promised me no paintwork. There was paintwork on ALL 3. One even had the… [cont.]

A. Vehicle shipping is too expensive. I live on the west coast and it seems like most of the dealers on ebay are from Texas or the east coast, and shipping a car out here is a minimum $1000. Add that to fact that you're bidding on something sight unseen and if something goes wrong you cannot take up your grievances in person, and it seems like more trouble than it's worth.

What should be the selling strategy of a stock for an inactive investor?
Q. A friend sells his stock whenever the stock drops 7% after purchase or his cost. That strategy saved him a lot in the past year when the market dropped about 50%. However, that also means, he lost all his gains with his stocks when the stock market dropped. Should he have a strategy to sell after GAINING, say 50%, and then re-buy the stock back, while maintaing the SELLING strategy of 7% of cost?
Asked by T E - Fri Apr 17 22:40:55 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. From your question, it sounds like your friend sells the stock to lock in a loss, and then buys it back. Is that what you mean? I don't really see the purpose of selling in that case. Does he have tax reasons to lock in a loss? When he sells and buys back the same security, he isn't changing his investment, he is only paying unnecessary transaction fees. If he wants to continue to invest in the same stock, he should just hold it.

What if somebody is selling a brand new laptop but tells you, you have to pay to have wireless installed?
Q. I want to buy a laptop, and there is a guy selling one brand new in the box because he has a better one already and does not need it. I wanted to know if it was wireless, and he said I would have to pay $40.00 to have it installed. Does that mean I have to take it in to a computer shop, buy something from my cable provider, but it from any store that sells it or could not having the wireless feature be why he's selling it?
Asked by Mr. Innocent - Sun Feb 17 01:54:06 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. All new laptops now have wireless cards installed but a year ago and even now some basic versions like system built with celerons don't have wifi installed. I'll give an example like Dell inspiron Bxx with celeron comes without a wifi. But thats not a problem, there are a lot of sites selling very cheap wifi cards, you can install them easily. If you are getting a good deal like good processor, ram >512mb then go for it. Wireless adapters can be installed easily.

A. You can't post a Proposal for Sale of Business here. It is a comprehensive document similar to a business plan with dozens to hundreds of pages. Contact a broker like VR Business Brokers and see if you can get help. Yours is a unique business driven by personal contacts and is not easily sold.

How do I report someone for selling replica items as real?
Q. I know someone selling replica items as real items and they are just buying them offline and reselling them for triple. I found the website. The Ed Hardy shirts they sell cost 15$ and they sell them for 45$. They also do not have a business license.. They are selling all kinds of items, Jordan shoes, chanel purses.

A. First where are they selling Ebay, then contact them. Not collecting sales tax then inform your states Sales Taxing authority. There usually is a 10% reward. Buying an item for 15 and marking it up to 45 is not illegal. It is customer beware.

What are the laws of selling a sort of homemade product?
Q. I am interested in starting my own online store, but the only piece of info I cant figure out is if there are any rules or regulations against what i would be doing. What I am wanting to do is make and sell a product from a recipe by my grandma. The only problem is in the recipe she uses a certain brand and all I would basically be doing is altering that specific product and then repackaging it and selling it. (it would taste way different tho). Is that legal or is there anything I would have to do to make it legal?

A. You need to consult a business lawyer. You could check out etsy. There are lots of small shops that sell homemade products. It should be a good resource for getting you started.

How does anyone make money selling a book for a penny on Amazon?
Q. I just started selling books on Amazon and have seen so many books selling for a penny. If anyone knows about this or what way to ship the books for a penny and having your costs covered and making some sort of profit please let me know. Thanks.

A. Often times they can ship it for less than the standard shipping charge, thus they make a profit. Likely more money than they would have gotten at the recycling center.

I am selling my house with a lease option. How does a lease option effect your debt to income ratio?
Q. I am selling my house with a lease option. I am wondering if this will effect my debt to income ratio when I try to get a loan for a new home.
Asked by Haley - Mon Apr 14 10:31:00 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The process for this varies by lender (the one for your new home) - there are a couple options: Your new lender can order a "Comparable Rent Schedule" from an appraiser in your area. The appraiser will find out what homes like yours are currently renting for and report it back to the lender in an appraisal form. The proposed rent from the "rental" will be considered income and can lower your debt-to-income ratio. Or, if you've got a tenant, you can provide a signed rental agreement that shows you have tenants and income for the home. This will also lower your debt-to-income ratios. Like I said, it will depend upon many other qualifying factors and your new lender's guidelines. If you've got more questions, let me know!

How does one set a selling price for a bookstore?
Q. I have an English and Spanish language tourist bookstore that has been open for 5 years in Guatemala that I would like to sell. How do I decide on a selling price? How much financial information should I reveal to potential buyers? I am sure that potential buyers will want to know if the business is viable, but it seem strange to show financial records to people who may not even end up buying the business. Any suggestions? Any suggestions on where I could post this sale online?
Asked by Sharon - Wed Oct 25 20:24:58 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. To compute the sellling price taking the profit from the current profit and loss statement, add back any expense that will not pertain to the new owner, such as officer wages, interest on debt the new owner will not have and depreciation. This will increase the bottom line profit. Multiply that profit by 2.5%. This should be a good starting point for your asking price. You should not need to show any financial records to a prospect until they have put a refundable deposit on the table. This information is assuming you are selling assets only not company stock. Inventory should be paid for separately at settlement.

Q. When I go on vacation I always see people selling designer handbag knockoffs. I want to set up shop and sell some but want to make sure its legal. Asked by Bill D - Wed Jan 6 15:14:59 2010 - - 5 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Selling "any" counterfeit item in the US is illegal, even if you tell people they aren't real you're still violating the laws in the US. However, as long as the purses don't have the same logo, name, etc. it can be sold. To order similar purses try putting words like "inspired by handbags" "designer handbags" and so forth.

Q. What are some selling tips for selling an item valued at about 400$? It is a retired doll with many pets, clothing, and additional accessories. Thanks in advance!
Asked by Myself - Sun Nov 11 20:33:17 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well the best thing i can recommend is to start the auction during i time when you feel that would be the perfect time for the item to end. If you are selling a collectible doll sell start it on a weekend around 3pm est so that it ends at a perfect time no matter where in the US you are. The reason for this is so bidders get into a bidding war the last hour of the auction. This is when you make the most money!!! Also if you feel that this item is worth a fair amount i would say $200+ I would do a featured listing (cost $20) for this listing! you will get much more exposure and one of the biggest points i would say is start this out very low like $1.00 this does two thing you get charged by eBay for how much you start an auction at and the… [cont.]
