Is rustic the best style to go for if you tend to make small errors here and there?
Q. I saw a picture of a French hotel where half the tiles had fallen off and the plastering wasn't perfectly smooth. It was considered 'rustic' with charm and character. Or is it more complicated than this, like people who pay top dollar for new torn jeans that look old rather than wear existing old torn jeans that look old? (errors aren't good but I feel they're less ruinous here than in minimalist and contemporary styles).

A. Child, the real charm will come from the herbs, as my Shemmi always said. Do up the place any old way, but truly, as long as strings and strings of garlic, and ropes and ropes of the river-anise got space, the charm will flow like water. You can do with ropes of Heaving Hannah, but they're real hard to tie, for sure, what with all the spines. The garlic, though, that'll make a heart feel protected.

Whats the best stain or wax to use to make furniture look old and rustic?

A. Depending on how rustic you want to go there are several things you can do to distress your furniture before antiquing. 1. Use an old belt or board and hammer five or six different size finish nails through and use this tool to lightly strike the wood in random areas of furniture. Large screw drivers work well too to strike at different angles. You can be creative and use a scrap piece of wood to try various items and see what kind of depressions they leave. 2. If the objects are finished you can proceed to sanding the edges till the wood peaks through. Just try to sand with the grain to avoid fake looking sanding marks. 3. Q. I went to quick chek yesterday and got their i think it was rustic tomato soup ...it was creamy and made with sundried tomoatoes it was delicious does anyone have the recipe or know someone who works there that can get the recipe...please it was sooo good.
