How badly is Canada affected by the financial crisis?
Q. If the US goes under and the US Dollar starts to lose value, will Canada be there worst affected country since the US is the biggest trading partner? Also, how much debt does Canada have compared to the US? I've read the Canada survived the great depression pretty well with only a dozen bank failures compared to over 600 on the US side, what do you think is the deal now?

A. Canada is much better off than the U.S. because our banks did not get caught up in the mortgage meltdown that occurred in the US. How ever there is currently a global recession going on which Canada can not escape from. The US dollar will probably sell off making our exports to the US more expensive putting pressure on our economy.

What do you think about Canada trying to get the US to change environmental laws so they can sell more oil?
Q. The US currenlty refuses to buy oil from canada from any new sites. The US will only buy oil from old sites. But canada wants to drill in new sites, and they want the US to buy it. Canadian lobbyists are all over Washignton trying to get the law changed. What do you think of this. Why do you think the media does't cover it. And do you think it's okay for canada to do this because it's canada. How would you feel if Americans did this?

A. ok :T J , first of all we are NOT occupying Haiti, we don't have anything to do with Haiti except that our governor general is from there. Also, we are not interested in "trashing" the U.S. . Why don't you get your facts straight, you narrow-minded bigot. In regards to the question, Canada is not imposing laws to sell more or less oil. I'm sure that if we did change the laws it wouldn't matter.

What is the IRS in Canada? What certification does it take to prepare taxes for Canada?
Q. Also what does it take to become a CPA in Canada? Who is the advisory board for CPA's in Canada?
Asked by Captain - Mon Mar 10 05:16:00 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Our equivalent of the IRS is the Canadian Revenue Agency, the CRA Truthfully, it doesn't take any certification to do taxes (some tax places hire people off the street, and give them some training) although there are courses available. CPA is an American designation, but it is respected in Canada. Many Canadians get one, and you can get a job with one (the US is our biggest trading partner, after all). There are three formally recognized financial designations in Canada: Chartered Accountant (CA); Certified General Accountant (CGA); and Certified Management Accountant (CMA).

Why are emails from someone in Canada delivered to others faster than to me in Colorado?
Q. Someone with a Canada email address is emailing me in Colorado and someone else in Canada. He is actually physically located in South America at the present time. The other person in Canada is receiving the emails and responding, with a copy to me, before I get the original email. The originals show up in my inbox a long time later. They are in my address book and the emails are not going to spam. Why the delay by Yahoo? Thank you.
Asked by Karen - Tue Feb 9 23:40:58 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Does the person getting them first have the same email service as the sender? that may make it go to the internal list first. Also sometimes there are settings for how often your email client checks the yahoo site for new emails. it could be set to every hour or once a day or something odd.

How long do cancer patients in Canada have to wait before starting treatment?
Q. Honest question. I've read that if you get cancer in Canada and can't afford to go outside Canada for treatment, you're pretty much dead. What's the average wait time between starting treatment after being diagnosed with cancer in Canada?
Asked by Non-Redneck - Tue Apr 7 14:25:27 2009 - - 18 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I have had cancer twice - the first time was 20 years ago. The last time was a different type of cancer and that was diagnosed 4 years ago. I waited a month with the first cancer but only because I did not want to go to a different city. The last time, I was diagnosed on Thursday and was operated on two days later on a Saturday. Obviously, I recovered both times, so... Don't believe everything you hear. In fact, if it is coming from the status quo in the States and has anything to do with Universal medicare as practiced in Canada, you might be well advised not to listen to it at all.

Canada is a west east country trying to survive in a north south continent. What does it mean?
Q. It might be because the US has more varied temperatures than Canada because Canada is more narrow and stretches west to east but i think it has something to do with Canada's landform regions. Thank you.
Asked by Hiba A - Sat Oct 18 19:21:23 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The geography is very similar. The Rockies are in the same place, the most fertile land is in the same place, between the Rockies and the Great Lakes. The only major difference is the Canadian Shield, which limits agriculture in the East, but it makes up for it with easy access to minerals. I stand by my first answer. Climate limits development to the north so it has to spread east-west.

Is Canada the answer to the American open/illegal immigration problem?
Q. The Canadian economy seems to be doing well and, from everything I've heard, needs more workers. Canada has great benefits and, from what I've seen, Canadians preach acceptance of "multi-culturalism." Would Canada/Canadians openly accept the large number of illegal immigrants crossing the Mexican border into the US seeking better economic prospects that seemingly the majority of Americans oppose their presence? Would those coming from "South of the border" into the US find Canada a suitable home? Should some sort of pipeline (ie a train or bus system) be built through various points of the US's Southern border into points of Canada to get people there to work? Would this be acceptable to all, to none, to some or is this a ridiculous… [cont.]

A. Canada has a right to control its own immigration laws, just as we do. I'm sure that if they wanted to open their borders, they know how to do that.

I wonder what any country would be like if there were no invasions, colonizations, immigration, mass migrations, settling of itinerant cultures, etc. However, there would not be many of the good things we have today in the world, if it were not for immigration of some kind. Yes, there are some bad things too, as a result...but you gotta take that with the good.

A. www.cic.gc.ca There is no cheap and easy way to immigrate to Canada. There is currently a backlog of around 900,000 and Canada only admits 250,000 per year. Legislation was passed recently to speed up the process, but it is likely that it will speed it up by raising the bar for entry. If you go to the website you will see that they suggest that you don't bother applying if you don't have the required points.

How does a warrant become a Canada wide warrant? And how would you find out if the warrant was Canada wide?
Q. I am just wondering why/how a warrant becomes canada wide, and how you would find out if it was or not?
Asked by V S - Wed Oct 14 16:13:50 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. In Canada, judges or justices of the peace can direct peace officers within their province to execute warrants in certain situations. The police to whom the warrant is directed (i.e. the provincial police) can then decide the radius of the warrant. Since the expenses for transporting a person on a warrant are paid by the police of the issuing province, the radius is usually only as large as the offence is serious. For minor offences, the warrant may only be a few hundred kilometers. For murder, it will be Canada-wide. Technically, a person can be legally arrested on a warrant anywhere in Canada, but only the issuing provinces' police can execute it (they have to fly to get the arrested person and bring him home).

A. There is a new site for immigration to America and visitors to America. I will look up the URL and attach it. You must be extremely careful to follow all ules for both Canada and U. S. The rules for entering the United States from Canada are changing--you will have to show your passport each time you cross the border between the two countries, and probably answer immigration questions and fill out forms. Here is the new link: Information on visiting the United States is on the top left of the home page of the link above. It should answer all your questions. Best wishes on your plans.

Here is the new link: Information on visiting the United States is on the top left of the home page of the link above. It should answer all your questions. Best wishes on your plans.

How come the prime minister of Canada has no power or authority?
Q. It seems like the prime minister of Canada has no real power or authority. I say this as a canadian. Compared too the president of the US it looks that way, I know the US is a lot bigger (population wise) and has more power than canada but still. And when the prime minister is speaking at that house thing there is all these losers yelling in the back. Everything has too go threw all these votes and no one agrees so nothing really ends up happening. Could someone explain why? Also what the prime ministers powers are? Thanks so much!

A. Actually the Prime Minister has a great deal of power. He chooses the Ministers, leads the direction that the party takes, and he sets the agenda of the government. I also say he, because Prime Minister Harper is the current Prime Minister. I would say that the Prime Minister is more involved with the day to day dealings of the government that the American President. The Prime Minister has to spend some time amongst the MPs. It just so happens that there is not a majority government currently and in order to maintain his grip on power, he has to negotiate with the other parties. Like a true democracy. Believe it or not the yelling is part of the game. The opposition is yelling to voice their constituents' concerns. Try this link… [cont.]

Meditation Practice The practice of Samarpan Meditation is very simple. Samarpan means surrender, as we sit to meditate, we surrender our egos, thoughts, desires, regrets and anything which hinders our spiritual progress.
