A business (company, enterprise or firm) is a legally recognized organization designed to provide goods or services, or both, to consumers, businesses and governmental entities. Businesses are predominant in capitalist economies. Most businesses are privately owned. A business is typically formed to earn profit that will increase the wealth of its owners and grow the business itself. The owners and operators of a business have as one of their main objectives the receipt or generation of a financial return in exchange for work and acceptance of risk. Notable exceptions include cooperative enterprises and state-owned enterprises. Businesses can also be formed not-for-profit or be state-owned. The etymology of "business" relates to the state of being busy either as an individual or society as a whole, doing commercially viable and profitable work. The term "business" has at least three usages, depending on the scope — the singular usage (above) to mean a particular company or corporation, the generalized usage to refer to a particular market sector, such as "the music business" and compound forms such as agribusiness, or the broadest meaning to include all activity by the community of suppliers of goods and services. However, the exact definition of business, like much else in the philosophy of business, is a matter of debate and complexity of meanings. From Wikipedia under the

I have never taken serious to write a business plan for my business, and I don't like play the words or numbers, but my business do have some profit. Would I get a loan if I have no a qualified business plan? Please help. Asked by cccxh1 - Mon Mar 17 04:43:26 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Business plans are VERY important. You definitely have to put a lot of thought and time in constructing one. Put yourself in the lender's situation - if some random guy came up to you with no clear plan, why on earth would you give him $20k? If you are sure that you'll make a or are already making a profit, spell it out for them. Show them how you've flourished and how you expect to grow in the future with this money. Obviously you don't have to know every specific detail going into the distant future, since no one can predict what will happen with your business, but at least develop likely scenarios so you'll be prepared for anything. I read that if you dont get a business license and you run an at home based business and your neighbors dont complain about your work, its unlikey the IRS will find out and make you pay a fee as well as put your business on hold until its done. Now, in the state of FL, if I chose to not get a license because the type of business (event planning) did not require one, would I still have to pay taxes? Of course you have to pay taxes! And what gives you the idea that the IRS won't know about it? Eventually you'll have a business customer who will hand you a Form W-9 and ask for your taxpayer ID number before they pay you. Assuming that they pay you more than $600 (and possibly if it's less) the IRS will be notified of the payment. Or someone will get audited and will have claimed an expense deduction for the money that they paid you. The IRS auditor will then gather the details about YOU and make a note to follow the money trail and see if YOU are paying YOUR share. Either way, you're BUSTED! But let's just say that… [cont.] Answered by Bostonian In MO - Mon Nov 19 20:47:17 2007 What steps should a business take to claim legal ownership of work completed by contractors on it's behalf?
Q. If a small business hires either independent contractors or another business to perform work for them, what steps should that business take to make sure that the completed product is legally owned by the business and not the entities or individual employed to create that product? Pointing me to resources on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Asked by rlc_60504 - Sun Jan 10 11:13:07 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. You definitely need an intellectual property agreement before the work commences. My understanding is that, in the absence of this, the contractor would own the rights to the work regardless of your payment for the work. Whether or not that is true, it makes sense to have one to remove all doubt. Search using terms like "contract programmer intellectual property agreement" (even if the work/product you are talking about is not computer code, because this industry uses them a lot).
