Application forms?
Q. Many forms have a question about disabilitys If I tick "prefer not to answer" is that the same as admiting Im disabled? I am on a disabled pension but it should not be that much of a problem in an office job but I am worried about being looked over because I tick the disabled box. You have to sign the bottom saying that you have told the truth so I can't just lie about it can I?

A. It is illegal for an employer to question you about any disability as it could lead to a discrimination lawsuit. The only thing that should be on the application is a question that asks if you can or cannot perform the job with adequate assistance and tell them that you can.

Where can I get help filling out application forms?
Q. I'm not very good at filling out application forms and was wondering if anybody knows any websites where I could get any help. Specifically answering questions on applications like 'what can you bring to the company'? Or alternatively some helpful advice.

A. A good start would to be to write a good CV you can copy the information from on to application forms. There are plenty of CV writing services on the net if you do a search for them. The site below gives some useful information on what tends to be in application forms and how to complete them. You must answer questions yourself though, otherwise you will run in to problems at an interview if they ask you about your application.

A. They will probably have a few admin staff working throughout the summer. However, a better bet would be to ring the EMA helpline on 0800 121 8989 - that's how I got my form.

Do Japanese people use resumes and application forms to find jobs?
Q. In Canada and America, we use resumes and sometimes fill in application forms to get jobs. Sometimes, we don't even need a resume!! They will hire you if you just fill in an application form... So... does it work the same way in Japan? Are the resume style same? Please give lots of details, thanks...
Asked by no - Sun Dec 2 01:05:03 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. When applying for a position in Japan, you have a choice of two acceptable types of resume. If you are approaching a Japanese company, complete the rirekisho in handwritten form in Japanese; if you are not fluent in the language, have your information translated. The rirekisho uses the traditional two-page format, divided into personal information and work experience, and requires an attached photo. This official form is readily available in stationery stores. If you are applying to the international department of a Japanese company, use the resume that is closer to the international or American style. Type it in English on good bond paper, and include no attachments.

A. An application form is a good way to receive information in a standardized format that makes it easier and faster for potential employeers to screen applicants. also as application forms can be posted and filled out online it is a more efficient delivery system for both the applicant and the employer.

Why do application forms ask for your sexual orientation?
Q. I have noticed a lot of application forms ask what your sexual orientation is. why is this and is it allowed? Why should it matter? I have had this question on application forms for HSBC and South Oxfordshire District Council, on the council application it is asked under the heading "Equal Opportunities monitoring form" and asks "Please tick the box which you feel describes your sexual orientation" (Hetrosexual, Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian)
Asked by syla1712 - Wed Jan 14 08:32:25 2009 - - 13 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2003 are such a minefield that employers presumably feel that they have to demonstrate that they are not discriminating on the grounds of sexual orientation and that if anything should occur which results in the employer being accused of aiding and abetting acts which are unlawful under the Act, being taken unawares regarding the person's sexual orgientation, he may rely on section 23 of the Act.

Q. Can I scan an application form into my computer and then type my details on the form and either print it or email it completed with my details? Do I need a special programme?
Asked by Philip S - Tue Oct 24 08:08:05 2006 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No, you cannot make an image of a form interactive. Computers don't know what images "mean" like we do; it's just a lot of numbers to them. You will have to code the form in HTML, for example, and set up a script in a language like PHP to handle the form processing and such.

A. It's because of the political power that the Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Tran ssexual community has achieved in certain places around the globe that they are able to require such a question to appear on a job application. Northern Europe is among the places on the globe where LGBT community activists have been most influential. In much of the United States, job applications do not ask applicants to disclose what their sexual orientation may be, but there do exist legal protections from workplace discrimination against employees and applicants on the basis of sexual orientation. I think it is a mistake to pry into a person's sexual inclinations on a job application, as it erodes our privacy, but it seems the LBGT community's agenda is to put… [cont.]

Do application forms need cover letters?
Q. I'm sending off some application forms and I was wondering if you need a cover letter. Also if I am apply to a store like Starbucks, do I need to put the managers name somewhere either on the cover letter or on the form?
Asked by Fluffybunny - Tue Feb 2 11:48:37 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Usually application forms do not require a covering letter, and if they do it will clearly state so on the form itself. Pretty much all the details the employer wants from you will be covered in the application form itself. However, it won't do any harm including a covering letter. It'll show you're willing to go beyond what is expected, and it will add a personal touch. Covering letters should always be addressed to a specific person, in the case of Starbucks, it should probably be the manager of the store that you address it too.

How can you get application forms for stores like next, gap and boots.?
Q. Is it the right time to start applying for christmas jobs.
Asked by Just Me - Mon Sep 17 16:46:15 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Walk in (don't look like a slob) and ask for if they are hiring and if they have an application you can fill out. If you only want to work for the Christmas season, ask when they will be hiring for the Christmas season. Fill out your application (there or at home) Bring it back and ask when you can expect to hear something, or when interviews are. Be prepared to be in an interview the moment you turn in your application, they may want to do it on the spot right there.
